MCSAP is launching our second "Let's Be Blunt" contest!
The Milwaukee County Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition (MCSAP) is launching our second “Let’s Be Blunt” contest”, designed to give Milwaukee youth a voice in developing messaging on how to talk to their peers about marijuana use.
Out of our 2015 contest arose the county-wide “Let’s Be Blunt” campaign. Based on the success of the contest last year, we are once again engaging youth in 2016 to expand messaging that resonates with teens.
Check out our flyer for more information on how to participate, and contact Kasaundra Brown if you have any questions.
Let’s be blunt … There is no need for weed! Don’t blow your opportunity. This is your time – enjoy it and stay away from those things like marijuana that keep you from being the best you!
The Let’s Be Blunt anti-marijuana messages and imagery were developed by Milwaukee teens for Milwaukee teens. In the summer of 2015, the Milwaukee County Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition first hosted a contest to engage local youth in developing ideas about the most effective ways to reach their peers and messaging that would resonate with teens like you. Youth were asked to consider:
- What concerns do you have about marijuana?
- What role does it play in your community?
- Why do youth use marijuana?
- How does marijuana impact people you know?
Finalists were presented with awards at a special event, MCSAP-fest, recognizing individuals across the community who make a difference in substance abuse and tobacco prevention. Images will be displayed on Milwaukee buses and social media. Thank you to our wonderful teens who participated!
We hope you will connect with us on social media, share the teen-created images with your networks, and use the hashtag #noneedforweed. Please check us out on Facebook!
We are so pleased to present the following winning contest submissions, from Milwaukee teens who wish to help other teens avoid the pitfalls of marijuana. The original submissions are followed by the versions made by a professional graphic designer!
